Good things really do come around.

In April 2016 the hospital sewing group accepted a car full of material donated by Peter Bott of Pakenham. The material had belonged to Peter's wife, Ruth Geurster before she sadly passed away from cancer in July 2013.

Amongst the large donation of material, the sewing group discovered some squares of fabric which had been embroidered by Ruth. It was decided that these beautiful squares, along with the other material, would be used to make a quilt. The talented sewing team set to work creating a magnificent quilt designed by loved hospital volunteer Maree McPhee.

Once complete, the quilt became the prize in an Auxilliary raffle to raise funds for the hospital. Tickets were sold and Peter himself, who was thrilled with the result, purchased $20 worth of tickets to support the raffle.

Members of the Auxilliary, along with hospital caregivers, gathered in the hospital foyer on Thursday 11 May to draw the raffle. Amazingly, Peter was drawn as the winner.

"It is very heart warming for me in particular to know that Ruth's productivity in embroidering some of the squares has been put to a good and worthwhile cause and I am positive she would be very pleased with the result and its final use in raising funds to support the hospital," explained Peter.

Both the hospital and the Auxilliary are so pleased that Peter will now have this memento of his late wife's talent and handiwork to keep in her memory.
