Raising two daughters, working full time and completing a Diploma of Enrolled Nursing was a challenge that Brendan met head on.

Hard work and perseverance paid off and Brendan recently won the Bendigo TAFE - RTO no. 3077 Vocational Student of the Year as well as The Golden Medallion in Health and Community Services.

Brendan has now been nominated for the Victorian Vocational Student of the Year Award. The prize is a $10,000 fellowship   for University which, if he wins, Brendan will put towards studies in Registered Nursing at LaTrobe in Bendigo.

Brendan is currently doing a rotation on the St John of God Bendigo Hospital rehabilitation ward, where he is extremely popular with the patients for his great manner. He will begin a rotation in theatre next as part of his graduate year.

"I love helping people and getting the satisfaction of getting them home," said Brendan

"A holistic approach is important to me, I love bringing humour into the ward."

Outside of work, Brendan loves to 'chase the kids around' and also loves archery.

St John of God Health Care wishes Brendan all the very best with the upcoming award ceremony.
