In its 11th year, the annual Awards recognise the outstanding contribution of graduates, individuals and teams for their professionalism, innovation and care across a range of health settings. Both Angela and the 2 West team have been recognised for their achievements as articulated in the statements below:
Nurse or Midwife of the Year - Angela Langdon St John of God Ballarat Hospital
For her innovative direction and leadership as a Nurse Unit Manager, which significantly improved staff satisfaction and patient care outcomes within the medical cardiology ward.
Team Excellence - 2 West Nursing Unit St John of God Ballarat Hospital
For establishing evidence-based initiatives that led to the significant improvement in employee satisfaction and patient-care outcomes within the ward.
St John of God Ballarat Hospital’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Maria Noonan said we are immensely proud to have two finalists for the HESTA awards.
“The awards recognise a commitment to excellence in care, to have both our Nurse Manager Angela Langdon and our Medical Ward nominated is a reflection of the values and passion they bring into their work place each and every day.”
“We are privileged to have such highly skilled and committed nurses working at St John of God Ballarat and are thrilled that they have been listed as finalists in this auspicious award”, Maria said.
St John of God Ballarat Hospital’s Nurse Manager Angela Langdon said to be a finalist for Nurse of the year and the 2 West team for Team Excellence award is very exciting, overwhelming and humbling.
“To be working in a field that I am passionate about and be recognised I hope will bring awareness of the importance of advocating for our elderly and vulnerable patients to achieve better positive outcomes”, Angela said.
Congratulations to both Angela Langdon and the 2 West team for their dedication to providing consistent and outstanding patient care, implementing innovative initiatives in clinical practice and providing an environment which nurtures and supports both patients and caregivers.
Winners will be announced at the 2017 HESTA Australian Nursing & Midwifery Awards dinner in Brisbane on May 10 2017.
