As Group Manager for Pastoral Services at St John of God Health Care, Eleanor is a passionate advocate for the professional development of pastoral practitioners.
In her acceptance speech she said that pastoral services, and responding to the needs of the whole person, were the defining features of Catholic Ministry.
“Right now in Catholic hospitals across Australia, pastoral practitioners reach out to comfort and support a diverse group of people from all walks of life, who are vulnerable, who need to share their fears, their stories, their regrets and their joys.”
“As leaders it is our responsibility to ensure that advancing and shaping the profession of pastoral services is paramount. This can only be achieved through professional development, research and the formal certification of pastoral practitioners.”
A free information evening on pastoral services and clinical pastoral education will be held at St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals on 19 September at 4:30pm.
