Dr Stanford said “Dr Gannon is a highly accomplished and regarded Western Australian specialist who is well positioned to contribute to the debate and future policy direction on healthcare in this country at such a critical time.”

“As the President of the AMA we look forward to Dr Gannon’s intention to work constructively with government, representing his profession, and for the greater good of the entire healthcare system and ultimately for patients,” he said

“Dr Gannon continues to make a significant contribution to health and medicine in his specialist area and to its expertise in our Subiaco and Mt Lawley Hospitals.”

Dr Gannon was born at St John of God Subiaco Hospital and has been a practicing specialist at the hospital since 2006. 

Western Australian obstetrician and gynaecologist, Dr Michael Gannon, has been elected President of the Federal Australian Medical Association.

As Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology since 2012 he oversees the medical and surgical coordination of the department. He is also a specialist at St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital in Western Australia.
