Reconciliation action - relationships

Reconciliation action - relationships

Building relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians will enable us to discern the most appropriate ways we can create partnerships to effectively close the gap in life expectancy, specifically in the area of health care services.

Our actions

One of the key actions for our Reconciliation Action Plan (2017 - 2019) is building relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We will work towards this by:

  • Ensuring our Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group actively monitors development and implementation of actions, tracking progress and reporting
  • Celebrating and participate in National Reconciliation Week by providing opportunities to build and maintain relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians
  • Developing and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations to support positive outcomes
  • Raising internal and external awareness of our Reconciliation Action Plan to promote Reconciliation across our business and sector
  • Becoming members of each state Reconciliation organisation (Reconciliation Victoria, WA and NSW Reconciliation Council)

Governance

To ensure we undertake our actions, we will:

  • Report our Reconciliation Action Plan achievements, challenges and learning to Reconciliation Australia
  • Report internally and externally our Reconciliation Action Plan achievements, challenges and learning
  • Review, refresh and update the Reconciliation Action Plan
