St John of God Midland Public Hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr Glen Power said younger patients could now escape into the world of electronic and traditional games thanks to the donation.

“We were thrilled when the Rotary Club of Midland approached us about how they could assist the hospital and together we decided that games would be of great benefit to the children,” he said.

“We thank Rotary and its dedicated volunteers for raising the funds.”

Rotary has donated two X-box game consoles and controllers, two large televisions and 11 games for the Children’s Ward. They are also used in the Emergency Department’s Paediatric Assessment Unit.

Rotary Club of Midland President Tania Hawkins said the club was delighted to donate the items to the Children’s Ward, in memory of past and current members.

“We hope the games will help to draw the children’s attention from any anxiety that they may be feeling and perhaps make a visit to the hospital a more enjoyable experience,” she said.
