Risk Management
Resourceful thinking and practice
At Accord, we respond to and grow with our communities and
partners and treat the Earth and its resources with
respect.
Issues surrounding saving the environment and climate change
can pre-empt many heated discussions. Teaching new ideas on
how to better use our natural resources is an efficient way to move
forward into the future. At Accord, stewardship is vital to our
survival. The efficient and effective use of resources available to
our services through grants, donations, and general purchases is
essential for our future.
Our aim is to minimise the use of non-renewable resources by
reducing the impact they have on our bottom line and the
environment through purchasing energy efficient devices, office
equipment that is durable for longer term use and encouraging staff
to recycle as part of environmental objectives. We are reducing our
waste generation through careful purchase of resources such
as recycled paper and other office products.
We are committed to:
- Operating in an ecologically sustainable manner
- Using the minimum natural resources required by reducing
consumption and eliminating waste
- Implementing environmental impact strategies that promote best
practice in how we manage the environment at each of our
operational sites
- Complying with government policies and initiatives and relevant
state legislation
- Providing an environmentally sound workplace with sound work
practices
- Working closely with our employees, suppliers and the people
and communities we support to develop and implement strong
initiatives linked to ensuring the future of our environments.
At Accord we are also creating environments at each of our sites
that sustain and enable the involvement and livelihood of the
people we support. Our model is focused upon constant
interaction with the people we support and their community or
environment to ensure we are encouraging full participation at a
societal level. The health status of the people we support is
influenced by the condition of the resources around them. To ensure
that the environment does not impact on their disability in a
negative or prohibitive way, we constantly consider how best
to create the perfect environment and resources to provide a
place of learning, sharing, adapting and value.
