Short Stay Unit

The work undertaken in the Unit includes major and minor ophthalmic surgery, a specialist pain service and minor gynaecological surgery.Located on level 2, the Unit includes three theatres, one procedure room and a recovery area with 10 bays. The Unit caters for a variety of patients from adult to children. Patients admitted to the Unit are either for day surgery or overnight admissions.

Surgery is performed either under general anaesthesia or local anaesthesia. There is a small waiting room for patients to wait in prior to surgery and a discharge lounge for patients after surgery.

Patients who require an overnight stay are transferred to the ward for recovery.
