Reducing our footprint

St John of God Hospital Subiaco demonstrates ecological concern and respect for the Earth.

Well respected for our award winning Environmental Action Strategy, we are committed to reducing water and energy usage, reducing waste consumption, minimising the use of harmful substances and actively endorsing the three R’s – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

To support and implement our Environment Action Strategy, we established an Environmental Stewardship Committee with the objective of reducing the Hospital's environmental footprint.

Our Water Management Plan includes guidelines and initiatives to achieve a specific water savings target -through such things as waterless urinals, water saving devices on taps and installing a system to capture the back wash water from the main water supply - has already resulted in significant water savings.

Our major environmental achievements include:

2002   Joint  winner of the WA Environment Awards
