All personal electrical appliances
brought into the Hospital must undergo a safety inspection
before they can be used. These inspections are arranged
through your Unit caregivers. Please note that personal or
hired televisions are not permitted.
Flowers
Flowers should be delivered to reception so
that delivery to your unit can be arranged.
Laundry
Fresh towels and clean bed linen are available
as required. Our hospital is equipped with laundry facilities for
your personal washing, drying and ironing needs. All laundry
machines are coin operated.
Meals
You are encouraged to have your meals
in our Dining Room. Meal times are available within all our
Units.
Medication
Following admission to hospital, or on return
from leave, any medication should be:
- left in the care of your attending nursing
staff
- dispensed from the Nurses' Station at times
advised by the Unit staff
- ordered by staff from our pharmacy
Newspapers
Newspapers can be ordered and paid for at
Reception.
Non-electric razors and sharp instruments
On arrival, please deposit all non-electric
razors or sharp instruments, including disposable razors, with a
caregiver on your Unit for safe keeping.
Photocopying and facsimile services
These services are available from Reception
for a small fee. Prior authorisation from your Unit Manager must be
arranged.
Physical
exercise
Yoga and exercise are provided by qualified
instructors. These sessions provide an opportunity to learn
relaxation skills and stress management. Squash, tennis and golf
are available on site. Please advise a member of your caregiver
team if you wish to use these facilities. Equipment is available on
request. White soled shoes must be worn on the squash court and you
must bring your own protective eye wear if you intend using the
squash court.
Requesting leave
Leave from hospital is only given in
exceptional circumstances, or where leave is planned as part of
your therapy. There are a range of options available that can be
negotiated with your treating team.
Telephones
Outgoing calls - your caregivers will advise
you of the location of the STD phone available for your Unit,
and for the Hospital's central public phone that accepts
Phonecards. Reception can sell you Phonecards or
change for your phone calls.
Incoming calls
Family and friends can contact you via the phone
available in your Unit. Please ask a caregiver
for the number. To avoid causing disruptions to your treatment
program, callers are encouraged to ring outside medical
consultation or group therapy times.
