Social Outreach and Advocacy
Reaching out to people experiencing disadvantage
to improve health and wellbeing.
Providing care and relief to people who are
oppressed, materially poor, powerless and disadvantaged is
core to St John of God Health Care's mission of healing. We want to
contribute toward just and inclusive communities where everyone's
dignity is respected and supported. We involve ourselves in
partnerships with others in a range of activities because true
health involves all aspects of the environment and conditions in
which people live and work.
St John of God Raphael Centre
Blacktown, focusing on Perinatal Women's Mental
Health, provides parents and families with much
needed assistance.
Apart from a group-wide Social
Outreach and Advocacy program, our other
Sydney hospital, St John of God Hospital Burwood operates
Casa Venegas, an outreach service
for homeless people with mental health problems.
