Admission to Pinelodge Clinic
General practitioners and psychiatrists can arrange the
admission of patients to St John of God Pinelodge Clinic. The
hospital has a Triage / Admission nurse, who is an experienced
psychiatric nurse, and can assist doctors to access
information and streamline the admission process of their patients
as inpatients or day patients.
The Triage / Admission nurse can be contacted between 8.30am and
4.30pm, Monday to Friday on (03) 8793 9478.
Upon admission, a Patient Services Officer explains the
hospital's facilities and insurance benefits to patients. A nursing
caregiver then acquaints patients with the hospital's facilities,
their room and their caregivers.
What to bring
All patients should bring:
- Their private health fund details, Medicare card and any
- Claim numbers and full details relating to admissions being
approved by the Transport Accident Commission or WorkCover
- Everyday, comfortable clothing
- Reading materials - in addition, daily papers and magazines are
available in the hospital
Patients should limit the amount of personal
property brought into the hospital and because of limited secure
storage space should not bring valuables. The hospital does not
accept responsibility for the loss of valuables. In exceptional
circumstances only, as facilities are limited, a Patient Services
officer can secure items up to a value of $500. A receipt will be
issued which must be produced to reclaim the items, and the
hospital's responsibility for these items is limited to $500.
Patients are permitted to bring small radios
or CD players with them. These must be electrically tested to
ensure compliance prior to use. All cameras, including mobile phone
cameras are prohibited.
Planning for your return home is an important
part of your continuing care. It involves discussion with your
family and support people to ensure you are fully prepared and that
any needs you might have are anticipated.
Your attending psychiatrist or general
practitioner will advise nursing caregivers of the day of your
discharge. Before discharge, please call at the Accounts Office on
the ground floor regarding your account. Discharge is between 9am

Your caregivers comprise a multidisciplinary
team with a range of specialist skills to help you during your
stay. Please speak to any of your caregivers if you have questions,
comments or concerns. Caregivers can either be identified via the
uniforms they wear or through their identification badge, which
details their name and position.
