Pastoral Services and Chaplaincy
The Pastoral Services
caregivers are an integral part of the healthcare team that cares
for you. They recognise that during times of illness, pain or
stress you may find yourself more vulnerable than you would
normally be, and that the opportunity to talk to someone about your
feelings and experiences can provide great comfort and
relief. All of the team are available to listen, support and
help you reflect upon what is happening in your life, so that your
situation can be understood with compassion and empathy.
Pastoral Services caregivers visit regularly throughout the
hospital between 8am to 8pm and are available for emergency
pastoral support after hours if required. Our team consists of
Pastoral Practitioners and Associates who have Clinical Pastoral
Education training, and hospital accredited Chaplains, all of whom
can organise a religious representative of your choice to visit, or
co-ordinate for you to receive Holy Communion should this be your
preference.
You can contact Pastoral Services by phoning 9366 1196, or
talking to your Ward Clerk, who will page us. After hours support
can be organised through your nursing team.
Chapel
The hospital’s Chapel is located on the ground floor next to the
coffee shop, opposite the lifts. Patients and visitors are invited
to use this tranquil place for reflection, prayer or a few quiet
moments.
Remembrance services
Remembrance services, to honour those patients who have died at
the Hospital and Hospice, are conducted on a regular basis as part
of our Bereavement Support Program offered by the Pastoral Services
Team. If you would like to attend our next Service or require more
information, please call our Pastoral Services Department on
9366 1196.
Mass and service broadcast
The in-house television network broadcasts Mass and other Chapel
services to patient’s rooms on Channel 15.
