Charity of the Year

charity of the yearEvery year our caregivers and volunteers raise money for our Charity of the Year. Last year we raised more than $14,000 for Passages Resource Centre in Peel.

This year, St John of God Murdoch Hospital has chosen Edmund Rice Camps WA, a not-for-profit community based organisation that serves the needs of kids and youth (aged 7-16yrs) and their families. Edmund Rice provides camps and other recreational and developmental opportunities for young people who would not otherwise have such opportunities, supporting kids who are ‘at risk’ or experiencing some form of disadvantage.

Given the nature of the service provided, the young people that attend the programs come from all areas of Western Australia, a wide variety of cultural and religious backgrounds and whose life experiences differ greatly.

Currently Edmund Rice Camps WA offers a range of programs to meet the needs of West Australian kids, youth and families including Mega Camps, Mini Camps (weekend camps), Funfests (non-residential activities), Eddie Friends (Group Mentoring) and Eddie on the Road (Regional Kids & Volunteer Program).
