Privacy
Our doctors, nurses and other staff are bound
by law and a strict code of conduct to maintain confidentiality of
patient information and ensure your personal information is handled
with care. Your personal information includes your personal details
and health information relating to your treatment.
Under the Privacy Act 1988
(Cth), you have the right to access personal information
held about you. If you wish to access your personal information you
should alert your Nurse Unit Manager.
Please note that, in certain circumstances we
will have a legal requirement to provide information to various
entities, including:
- State Health Departments (all patients and notifiable diseases
)
- Private Hospital Data Bureau (admitted patients)
- Registrar General’s Office (births and deaths)
- Cancer Registry (cancer patients)
- Private Health insurers
