Accounts

Our patient accounts officer is happy to assist with any questions you may have about charges, benefits or payments. Please feel free to contact Patient Accounts during or after your stay. Patient Accounts' operating hours are Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 4.30pm. The Accounts Department can be contacted on
9965 8888 or on extensions 513 or 517 if calling from within the hospital.

Insured patients

We recommend you confirm your health cover with your health fund prior to admission and they will provide you with financial consent.

You will be required to complete a hospitalisation certificate on admission to allow us to forward the account direct to your health fund.  However, any insurance claim excess or anticipated patient co-payment may need to be paid at the time of admission.

On discharge, we will forward your account to your health fund. Later, we will send you an invoice for the balance, which is payable to the hospital.

Please be aware that you will receive separate accounts from your doctor, specialist consultant doctor and any other health care professionals who assisted in your treatment and pathology (where applicable). All of these accounts are to be settled with the health care provider directly (i.e not through the hospital). Medicare and your health fund may cover a proportion of these accounts.

Uninsured / overseas health fund / travel insurance patients

All uninsured accounts must be settled at Reception prior to discharge. Reception opening hours are from 07.00am to 09.00pm Monday to Friday and 08.00am to 09.00pm Saturday and Sunday. For your convenience, you may pay by credit card (with the exception of Diners and American Express), cash, cheque or EFTPOS.

Workers’ Compensation / motor vehicle injuries or Department of Veterans Affairs patients

All admissions for work related and/or motor vehicle injury cases, or Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) patients whose claim has been accepted by the insurance company or DVA, are only covered for a shared room.  If you wish to occupy a private room, you will need to pay the difference between the shared and private room rates.
