Palliative Care

Palliative care is the support of those who are suffering from an incurable illness. Our aim is to provide physical, emotional, social and spiritual support to enhance the quality of the person's life. Support is also extended to the patient’s family and friends.

Hospice Unit

Our hospice unit is a purpose built inpatient facility in a separate wing of the hospital that provides 24-hour dedicated nursing services in family-friendly surroundings. Our nursing caregivers will answer questions and provide information about your care in this very supportive environment. The hospice unit is available to both public and private patients requiring palliative care, who are admitted by their doctor.

The Hospice Unit comprises:

  • Four dedicated rooms with ensuite facilities, with ability to take more patients in our St Raphael's ward
  • Private lounge and dining area with kitchen facilities for use by family, friends and visitors
  • Outdoor area with BBQ facilities for use by families and friends
  • Private entry and parking
  • On call Pastoral Services
  • Access to our in-house specialist palliative care team, which work closely with the Geraldton Palliative Care Service
