Palliative Care

St John of God Bunbury Hospital's palliative care services offer a purpose built Palliative Care Unit for inpatient care, a community care service, a Day Hospice program, and a program run in conjunction with local nursing homes.

This 10-bed palliative care unit is the only specialist unit in the South West, providing care for both privately and publicly funded patients.

The palliative care unit provides a supportive environment where we care for patients and their families facing a life limiting illness and adopt a holistic approach to caregiving, which respects the dignity and worth of each person.

People are admitted to our inpatient unit for symptom management and review, respite care, psychological support and terminal care.

A palliative care specialist visits regularly as part of the unit's multidisciplinary team which is supported by our award-winning team of volunteers.

For more information on our palliative care services, please call us on 9722 1600 and ask to be connected to our palliative care unit, or send an email to info.bunbury@sjog.org.au

Visiting hours

We offer unrestricted visiting hours in our Palliative Care Unit.

In the interests of hospital security, access to patient rooms is only through the main ward door.
