Prosthetic Reports

Changes to the Prostheses Database - effective from 21st February 2011

The amended February 2011 Prostheses List (effective 21st February 2011) contains the following changes:

  1. There are currently 2,286  gap permitted products in the Prostheses List.
  2. Variations from the previous Prostheses List are:
  •  412 new billing codes (213 for new products, 69 for expansions and 130 for transfers and compressions and 144 duplications);
  • 1,352 products have been amended either by changing benefit/s, product information or product groups;
  •  273 products have been deleted.

St John of God Health Care hospitals charge the Minimum Prosthetic Rebate code price EXCEPT when the suppliers cost to St John of God Health Care for the prosthesis exceeds this rebate charge - then the cost price is charged. The cost price from some suppliers has not yet been confirmed, therefore, there will be further changes as these are received.

The documents below password protected as a consequence of concerns from a major supplier. Only items for which a gap payment will apply are shown. Please check with your relevant hospital for the gap payment for these items.

Reports

The reports should be checked on a regular basis as they will be updated whenever a supplier increases the cost of a prosthesis to a hospital to a level exceeding the minimum benefit paid by the Health Fund for that prosthesis.

The prostheses list of deleted items below lists items removed by the Government, which will therefore not receive a benefit/rebate from health funds. You can check with the supplier company or hospital for an alternative product.
