Social Outreach and Advocacy
St John of God Health Care recognises that the
provision of care and relief to people who are oppressed,
materially poor, powerless and marginalised is central to our
mission of healing. Under the leadership of our Mission
Director, we will be developing further links and partnerships
within our community, which will enable us to reach out and
support those most in need.
Local Social Outreach and Advocacy
Our Raphael Centre Berwick represents the first social
outreach initiative by St John of God Hospital Berwick. The Centre
support families who experience anxiety or depression during
pregnancy or after child birth and can offer a comprehensive range
of therapeutic services. For further information visit the Raphael Centre web page or contact the
Raphael Centre on 9707 3988.
International Social Outreach and Advocacy
In 2009, St John of God Hospital Berwick developed its
first international health program in Van Village, Vietnam. A
team of 17 caregivers built a new maternity room and our
supporters donated all the necessary
equipment. This facility will help improve the
maternal and child health care needs of the village and wider
district.
During 2010, we will work on the next
phase of our project to develop a comprehensive health support
program. Our focus now is to build the capacity of
the clinical staff to enable long lasting health benefits
within the village and wider district.
