Our Day Stay Unit
Our Day Stay Unit is for patients who are in good health but
require some type of medical test or minor surgery requiring only
minimal sedation and where recovery is quick and usually without
side effects.
The care you receive in the Day Stay Unit is highly
personalised. We place special emphasis on pre-admission
planning and support for when you return home. The ultimate aim of
our Day Stay Unit is to offer optimum treatment, comfort and peace
of mind to all patients and their families.
When having your procedure as a day case, you will be
admitted to our Day Ward. Typical procedures that your consultant
may advise can be carried out as a 'same day' procedure
include:
- teeth extractions
- cataracts
- minor gynaecology procedures
- colonoscopy
- minor gastrointestinal
investigations
- arthroscopy
- minor urology procedures
- minor ear, nose and throat procedures
- minor paediatric procedures
We make every effort to keep your waiting time to a minimum. The
nursing and clerical staff will keep you informed of the progress
of your doctor's list. If there is anything we can do to make your
wait more comfortable, please discuss this with your
caregivers.
Once you return home, depending on your procedure, a nurse
may call you to check on your recovery. You may also be
given medication prescribed by your treating specialist, please
follow all advice and instructions for taking your
medication while at home.
