St John of God Hospital Berwick is a 70 bed modern private
hospital which is owned and operated by St John of God Health Care;
Australia’s third largest not-for-profit health care group with 14
hospitals in WA, Victoria, NSW and New Zealand.
Both private and self-insured patients are
welcome. We are also a Tier 1 provider of hospital services to the
veteran community.
Background
St John of God Hospital Berwick, was formed on 1
September 2003 after Berwick Hospital Incorporated merged with St
John of God Health Care. The hospital is located in Melbourne's
south-eastern growth corridor, approximately 40 kilometres from the
Central Business District.
The hospital has been part of the local community since 1939 and
provides a range of services including specialist consulting
suites, maternity, medical, and surgical medicine to approximately
8000 patients a year.
In 2007, St John of God Health Care invested $14.5
million into redeveloping and expanding the hospital.
The redevelopment included new wards, four state-of-the-art
operating theatres, day surgery recovery facilities,
Chapel, and comfortable patient admission areas.
