Sleep Disorders Unit

The Sleep Disorders Unit provides diagnostic and treatment services, including overnight sleep studies, for patients with sleep disorders. Single rooms, each with private en-suite and adjustable beds, are equipped with televisions to create a home-like atmosphere.

Medical disorders investigated include:

• obstructive and central sleep apnoea
• periodic limb movements during sleep
• insomnia
• parasomnias such as sleepwalking and night terrors

Sleep services

Diagnostic and treatment testing commonly includes:

• polysomnography (PSG, sleep study) - multi channel electronic recordings of breathing pattern, sleep stages, oxygen level, muscle activity
• CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) titration
• transcutaneous oxygen titration

Referral procedure

Patients are admitted under the care of specialist sleep physicians accredited by the hospital. Your general practitioner can refer you to these physicians for diagnosis and treatment. Their contact details are:
