Caring for our environment

St John of God Hospital Bendigo aims to be environmentally
responsible.
We have programs in place to recycle paper and other waste and
conserve water and energy.
Examples include our hydrotherapy pool. Changing the
hydrotherapy pool filtration system in 2009 is
saving almost a megalitre of water a year and providing
improved water quality in a shorter time.
Around 100 clients use the pool each day, for
rehabilitation (inpatient and outpatient), water aerobics for
pregnant women, the Back Care Program and infant aquatics.
The pool filtration system has been funded by
St John of God Health Care’s Environmental Capital Fund, which is
dedicated to funding environmental initiatives.
Smoke free
In keeping with our values and health and
wellbeing initiatives, St John of God Hospital is smoke free.
You are not permitted to smoke in the
buildings or in the grounds of the hospital. The hospital
boundary is marked in yellow and with signs.
Patients coming in for a hospital stay should
read about the support available for
smokers, and discussions they should have with their doctor in
the weeks prior to admission, where possible.
