Pelvic health physiotherapy clinic
St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital has introduced a public outpatient continence pelvic health physiotherapy clinic.
What is continence and pelvic health physiotherapy?
Our physiotherapists are specifically trained in continence and pelvic health physiotherapy.
They are able to assess and treat bladder and bowel issues, sexual dysfunction, pelvic pain, osteoporosis, pre and post gynaecological and prostatectomy surgery.
Who is the service relevant for?
This clinic is available for men and women aged over 65 years and above living in the East Metropolitan area.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent who are affected by an age related disease or process are also welcome regardless of age.
Exclusion criteria
- Atonic/dystonic bladder (spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis etc
- Major prolapse/rectal prolapse
- Pelvic mass due to cancer
- Persistent diarrhoea

If you require an urgent referral or further information, please contact the Day Therapy Unit (DTU) on 08 9370 9900 and ask to speak to the DTU Coordinator or the Continence and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist.
