Parent education and maternity tours
St John of God Berwick Hospital offers a variety of parent education opportunities. These include maternity unit tours, booking-in clinics and telephone support. There is a birthing class for first-time parents planning a vaginal birth. This session helps to prepare them for the birth including what to expect during labour, drugs, forcep delivery, episiotomy and emergency caesarean.
All maternity patients are granted access to our online learning hub, Eve. This app allows expecting parents to access learning modules, forums, blogs, videos and articles at their own convenience and from the comfort of their own home. There are a number of handy tools like a milestone tracker and contraction timer. Patients can even access the app until their baby’s first birthday, giving them support and guidance right through their child’s first year.
Maternity tours
When making the decision of where to welcome your baby to the world it makes sense that you’d like to take a tour of the hospital unit.
What are the delivery suites like? What if your baby needs a special care nursery? Will you have your own bathroom? Is there room for your partner?
We help you with all the most common questions and take you on a tour of our wonderful maternity unit.
You’ll get to see the rooms, where to park, delivery suites, baby bathing area and so much more.
Tours are held every Tuesday and some Saturdays.
Pregnancy information sessions
Every month we host our pregnancy information sessions.
During these times, we’ll have a session presented by one of our obstetricians who will discuss a topic relevant to early pregnancy. One of our midwives will present more information about the options we provide for pregnancy care management. We’ll then take you on a tour of the hospital to show you our maternity suites. Attendees will never go home empty-handed, receiving a bag of goodies when you leave.
